Pham Van Hoi is a lecturer and researcher in agroecology. He is currently based at the Center for Agricultural Researches and Ecological Studies (CARES), Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA).
Hoi earned his PhD in Environmental Sociology from Wageningen University and a Master’s degree in Science in Social Development from Ateneo de Manila University (the Philippines). His academic and research career has however been focusing more on agroecology – an integration of food systems and environmental sustainability. He has designed and implemented inclusive learning processes, mixed-method researches, and participatory agricultural development projects.
He has served as project leader or national consultant in different projects and organizations such as: FAO, USAID, GRET, Bioversity Int’l, Enveritas, GCP, WorldVeg… Hoi is also known for his pioneer in developing new integrated small-scale farming systems models such as: Chickenponics, Kitchenponics, and AIO (All-In-One). These systems have been documented by national TVs (Nhandan, VTC16), and Kitchenponics was granted 2nd GreenTech Awards in 2021. In addition, Hoi has several papers published in peer-reviewed journals. And as ALiSEA BoM, Hoi has remained an active contributor to agroecological sharings and policy dialogue in Vietnam
