Jean-Christophe Castella

As an agronomist and geographer at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), currently based at the Faculty of Science of Chulalongkorn University, in Thailand, I have been involved in participatory action research in upland areas of Southeast Asia for three decades. I studied the impact of agro-ecological and socio-economic changes on rural landscapes and livelihoods. I use multi-stakeholder group discussions and reflections, serious games, and visual techniques to enhance collective intelligence and performance. I design models, products, and innovations to support farming communities in transition to agroecology.
